This doctrine, when miss-interpreted, is one of the most common attacks made by anti-Mormon authors. They portray Latter-day Saints as seeking to, in a way, "overthrow" God. They use many scriptures citing the fact that there is only one true God (Isaiah 44:6; Isaiah 46:9 and even Book of Mormon scriptures which say the same thing such as Moroni 8:18).
